Standing Alone

Our most recent Bright Lights meeting on August 18 was Standing Alone, which is the last topic for Set 4!

Standing Alone:
-Engraft the sword of the spirit into your life ["But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear"~I Peter 3:15]
-Choose to live in the fear of the Lord not the fear of man ["And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."~Mt 10:28]
-Place your faith in the Lord knowing you are never alone ["Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied."I Sam 17:45]
-Purpose to rejoice in every opportunity you have to suffer for Christ [Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.~Mt 5:10-12]

Pictures! We had a really fun activity, by Evangeline and Priscilla, where we were divided into two groups and each round, each group would send up a participant, who would be blindfolded and then fed some kind of food. The first girl to guess what food it was won that round. And my group won! And they made me eat bittergourd. Yuck! :) But it was a whole lotta fun, with each team cheering each other on, and really making a lot of noise. :)

Naomi and Abigail waiting while Pris and Evan got the food... some of the food was easy to guess, like peanut butter, or carrot sticks. But others were really hard, such as Japanese rice, or macadamia nuts (which some hadn't eaten much of), or green raisins. :)

After about 10 or so rounds, some of the girls sabotaged Pris and Evan (who had done a great job, by the way) after that and made them get blindfolded and eat the food! It was hilarious.
<--The two of them in their matching striped hoodies while waiting for the rest of the girls who had gone scouting round the house for some food to feed them... At first it was going to be garlic, but they decided it was too mean and in the end fed them laksa leaves. :) Haha.
